Therapeutic Touch & Hand Reflexology for Dementia Care

Workshop Structure: This 2.5-hour workshop is divided into three sections:

1. Understanding Therapeutic Touch: An introductory presentation on the significance of therapeutic touch, an overview of reflexology, and its benefits for older adults, especially those living with dementia.
2. Self-Care Techniques: A demonstration on how to work several hand reflex points on your own hands for self-care.
3. Hands-On Application: Practical, hands-on practice on how to apply these techniques on others, preparing participants to use these skills on clients or family members effectively.

Outcome: Participants will leave the workshop with the ability to apply specific hand reflexology points on their own and others' hands, enhancing care for clients or family members.

About Hands-on Dementia: Developed to deepen connections with individuals living with dementia. Caregivers report that Hands-on Dementia has helped reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and enhance caregiver-client relationships. Nursing staff have also noted reduction in medication use and smoother transitions for new residents.
